Zhang Yaowu is a Houston-based Chinese oil painter and educator known for academic realist oil painting and classical drawing instruction. Born in Shenyang in 1964, he graduated from Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in 1987, later studied realist oil-painting techniques in Paris, and founded Zhang Yao Wu Art Center in Houston in 2003. His work emphasizes refined realism, still life, portraiture, and traditional oil-painting fundamentals.
